Globalisation has
been banded about in most political and business
forums. Few business leaders however understand
the challenges ahead in building a successful
global e-commerce company.
eBay, Amazon, and
Paypal opened the flood gates, allowing sellers
and buyers from across the globe to trade outside
their home markets. None realized when launching
these global titans, the import taxation implications,
nor the effect on home retailers when (grey market)
products flood into the home market, bypassing
the high street merchant. Recently the golden
goose of international commerce came home to roost
and the US, UK, Germany, Australia and New Zealand
are establishing controls to protect home markets.
We foresaw this happening,
and created local registered presence in each
of our key overseas markets: we are effectively
local suppliers through our distribution partners,
whilst controlling global sales centrally.
In a nutshell, by
reading the market and focusing our technology
on the latest sales channels,we
have established a firm foothold for our niche
products in these markets.
